Download Driver Fujitsu ScanSnap iX1500 Document Scanner. With this ScanSnap iX1500, we are far from a small, simple, and portable scanner that we had already tested. Indeed, we have here a personal scanner intended for professionals designed to be efficient and enduring. Equipped with a touch screen, fast, with large charger capacity, and offering applications on Windows, Mac, Android, and iOS, let’s see together what this scanner is worth, sold all the same € 575.
Fujitsu ScanSnap iX1500 Drivers & Review
The ScanSnap iX1500 is an office document scanner, too big to carry, too small to be used by dozens of people, it happens to be perfect for restricted use, being perfect for one to two people. These very correct dimensions (292 x 161 x 152 mm) also allow it to take up little space. Its design also allows it to open (and therefore turn it on) extremely quickly (thanks to a standby system) to be operational in less than 10 seconds. In general, the scanner seems very robust and well finished, with no risk as to its longevity over time.
Its layout is fairly standard for a desktop scanner. Once unfolded, all you have to do is load your documents to be scanned at the top, make your selection on the touch screen and retrieve the scanned documents at the bottom. The operation is simple and accessible to all. On the connection side, we remain on the very simple and classic: we find at the rear the mains input, as well as the USB output of the scanner behind a small cover. With WiFi, this USB port will only rarely be used. What is a shame is the lack of an Ethernet port, which is quite often used in the professional world.
Let’s move on to the installation of the beast. There are different ways to use the scanner, but I preferred the simpler, cloud-oriented way. Indeed, along with the ScanSnap Cloud application available on iOS and Android, the configuration and installation of the ScanSnap iX1500 hardly took more than 10 minutes. So I opted for a WiFi connection and a scan via the cloud, directly on my Google Drive account, without going through a PC.
Fujitsu ScanSnap iX1500 Configuration
The configuration, very simple, is done through the screen of the ScanSnap iX1500, coupled with the help of the application. It is also in the latter that we will create the ScanSnap Cloud account that we will link to the scanner, by choosing the desired cloud storage. Many different storage companies are available, including Google Drive, OneDrive, or Dropbox for the most famous.
Once selected and configured, everything is done and simple: scan a document via the ScanSnap iX1500, the latter will automatically send the document to the cloud, thus making it possible to very easily retrieve the scanned document, either via PC or via smartphone and directly via the app.
A little extra, the application offers to “scan” documents directly via the camera, recognizing the document and making the correct framing required, while sending the document directly to the cloud. Simple and practical.
Of course, a totally local alternative exists, either by scanning via the PC (WiFi or USB), or on a smartphone via the ScanSnap Connect Application. Where the documents will be scanned on your smartphone.
Let’s talk about technique anyway, with what the beast contains. The ScanSnap iX1500 has dual optics for scanning at a resolution of 600 dpi. The 50-sheet feeder can scan at a speed of 30 sheets per minute, or a speed of one sheet scanned every two seconds, which is basically very fast.
Two scanning windows
The touch screen allows you to quickly configure your scanning, in a simple and accessible way (for example, we are not talking about dpi, but normal, fine, and superior quality). Finally, a quick note about the supplied software ScanSnap Home which allows you to very simply connect the scanner to your computer and take advantage of the software suite: management of business cards, scanned text transcriptions, photo album, etc.
In the end, the Fujitsu ScanSnap iX1500 turns out to be a very good, powerful, and easy-to-access desktop scanner. Its features such as the easy-to-use screen or scanning in the cloud, make it a product that is easy to install and use, despite a slightly steep price.
