The Xperia XA1 has a handy 5-inch format and (apart from the powerful camera) a quite conventional equipment, the Xperia XA1 Ultra is more exotic. Because the smartphone is not only very large, it also has a special front camera.
6-inch display and wide-angle front camera
Like the Xperia XA1, the XA1 Ultra shines with a slim chassis frame and a chic design. But the display grows to huge 6 inches. Operating with one hand could be challenging, users enjoy videos and games but in large format. In order to avoid any loss in the pixel rendering, the screen resolves in Full HD (1920x1080 pixels) - the XA1 offers only 1280x720 pixels. Another special feature is the front camera, which thanks to wide-angle lens can capture a larger image. The main camera as the XA1 with 23 megapixels. The mediatek processor MT6757 with its eight cores should ensure sufficient speed. This includes 4 gigabytes of memory, the latest Android 7.0 nougat as well as an internal expandable memory of 32 gigabytes. The battery is 2,700 milliamperes slightly larger than that of the XA1. For charging and data transfer, users use a USB type C connector.
Price and availability
The Xperia XA1 Ultra should be available from mid-May 2017 according to Sony for 379 euros. The manufacturer manufactures the smartphone in the color versions black and white.
